KILIMANJARO

Kilimanjaro Mt. is one of the most instantly recognizable landmarks on the Africa continent. It is also the highest mountain anywhere that can be ascended by somebody without specialized mountaineering experience or equipment and each and every year, thousands of visitors to Tanzania attempt to reach its peak.

ARUSHA

Nestled on the lush southern slopes of Mount Meru in northern Tanzania, Arusha is the undisputed safari capital of Tanzania. It is the base from which travellers can visit the country’s most renowned game reserves. You’ll often encounter that spectrum of cultural influences which plays in the mind of visitors in search of the real Africa, from the colourfully dressed Maasai to the women who sell traditional bead-ware on the pavements. Arusha is an attractive town with a skyline dominated by the imposing hulk of Mt Meru, also of interest in the immediate vicinity of Arusha is Lake Duluti, an attractive forest-fringed Crater Lake.

TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

It preserves a classic piece of African woodland, studded with plentiful baobabs. It is famous for its elephant population, it is also rich in bird life. In direct contrast to the Serengeti, Tarangire comes into its own during the dry season between July and November, when large herds of game attracted to the permanent waters of the Tarangire River. If you have longer time, then Lake Burungi circuit offers you best chance of seeing the Rhino, bushbuck and the lesser Kudu. The Kitibong Hill area is home to large herds of buffalo, the southern plains are favored by cheetah, waterbuck and gerenuk

NGORONGORO CRATER

Ngorongoro Crater is a World Heritage Site and home to nearly 25,000 animals. Here you have a very real chance of spotting the big five: lion, elephant, endangered black rhino, buffalo and leopard plus countless other African mammal species. The approach road from Karatu to the crater rim of this World Heritage Site is sensational, winding through the densely forested outer slopes to the Heroes Point where most visitors will catch their first breathtaking view over the crater floor lying almost 600m below.

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

The plains of Serengeti is notable for its large migratory herds of wildebeest and zebra and it plays host to Africa’s greatest wildlife spectacle; the annual migration of more than a million wildebeest and zebra. It’s also not unusual to see lion, leopard and cheetah on the same day. The sense of space attached to exploring the vast Serengeti plains is overwhelming. Most of the National Park is open and grassy, broken by isolated granite Kopjes and patches of acacia woodland. Animal migration in this area is strongly linked to rainfall patterns. After the wildebeest, the most populous large mammal is zebra and these two are often seen in mixed herds.

The wildebeest migration: This follows a fairly predictable pattern though there are minor variations from year to year. Between December to end of March, the wildebeest disperse to calve in the southern part of the Serengeti Between April and July, the wildebeests congregate in preparation for the migration to the western Serengeti From July to October, the animals spread out into the northern Serengeti. From October to early December, the migration crosses to the Masai Mara National Park in Kenya.
