ENTEBBE

Day 1 to 3

ACCOMODATION: Karibu Guesthouse

Karibu is a boutique hotel set in a former presidential residence situated on the leafy hillside of Entebbe and located just 10 minutes from Entebbe Airport. Catering to a small number of guests at any one time, the hotel offers a high level of personalised service, quality food, relaxing swimming pool and a comfortable sleep. Each of the 7 en-suite rooms has the same quality amenities yet is unique in design. Spacious and airy. The “Lake View” rooms in the main house enjoy superb sunsets over Lake Victoria and the newly built “Safari” rooms in the Garden open the door to exotic plants and bird life. MURCHISON NATIONAL PARK

Day 3 to 6

KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Day 6 to 8

ACCOMODATION: Kibale Guest Cottages

Kibale Guest cottages are private unique luxury cottages located 36 KMs on Fort Portal - Kamwenge road adjacent to Kibale National Park in Western Uganda and offer a spectacular view of low moist tropical forest, a few hundred meters from the Park's main tourist centre of Kanyanchu. The cottages have capacity of 10 rooms fitted to high standards with solar powered hot showers. Each cottage balcony offers a spectacular view of Kibale forest; home to chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys and over 350 bird species.

QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Day 8 to 11

ACCOMODATION: Ishasha Lodge

Ishasha Jungle Lodge is located 2km off Katokye Gate of Queen Elizabeth National Park along River Ntungwe. This is the perfect location for your photographic safaris in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park and a stopover on the way to Bwindi National Park. The lodge is surrounded by riparian forest vegetation and acacias Savannah. Ishasha Jungle Lodge is a small eco-friendly lodge offering accommodation in 4 raised en-suite wooden deck cottages entirely made with local materials and African art. All rooms are spacious and have bathrooms all finished with canvas. The restaurant offers international standard menu and dining area.

BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Day 11 to 14

ACCOMODATION: Silverback Lodge

Silverback Lodge is located in the Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The Lodge is only a 5 minute walk to the national park and has sweeping views of the valley and forests that surround it. The lodge offers accommodation in 12 rooms, this makes it one of the largest lodge in the area but remain one of the best value properties in the region. Each room has an en-suite bathroom (with hot water showers) and comfortable chairs on the veranda for viewing the flora and fauna that make up the surroundings in the valley.

LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

Day 14 to 15

ACCOMODATION: Rwakobo Lodge

Rwakobo Rock is an eco-friendly family run hotel and restaurant nestled on a scenic outcrop at the edge of Lake Mburo National Park. The Lodge is a peaceful and secluded retreat where you can breathe in the essence of wild Uganda. Offering accommodation in 8 private, comfortable and spacious cottages with solar lighting, flush toilets and solar heated showers, which blend into the natural landscape are dotted around the hill with great sunset views. The main dining area overlooks an expanse of rock that adjoins the park.

With breathtaking views, the Lodge is nestled on a scenic outcrop and animals such as zebra, warthog, impala and bushbuck abound around the lodge and often congregate at the waterhole beneath the dining area. At night the sounds of bush come to life and allow your imagination to run wild. Rwakobo offers a variety of both easy and challenging walks offering the chance to get close to nature. Rwakobo also offers mountain biking and caters for night drives, while the park can be discovered by vehicle, foot or boat.

ENTEBBE

A city is nicely located on the shores of Lake Victoria the second largest fresh water lake in the world and a gateway into Uganda, Entebbe is the start and end point of nearly all safaris in Uganda. Some of the activities you can explore and experience while in Entebbe include the Entebbe Botanical garden, the Ngamba chimpanzee sanctuary which protects orphaned chimps, a visit to the source of the Nile at Jinja or you can relax at leisure in your hotel awaiting to beginning your amazing safari through the Pearl of Africa.


KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Located just south of Fort Portal, Kibale National Park covers 766 sq. km and runs contiguously with the northern end of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Kibale is home to an extraordinary thirteen species of primates, including chimpanzees, red colobus, and L’Hoest monkeys. Kibale National Forest has also recorded over 355 bird species, and a range of other wildlife including the elusive forest elephant elephants, buffaloes though they live deep in the forest and are only seldom seen. More commonly encountered are bushbucks, duikers and montane sun and giant forest squirrels.

The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, which is rich in bird species, vegetation, and wildlife is a convenient place to pause and rest en-route to the lure of the vast Queen Elizabeth National Park. Explore the trails to some of the crater lakes of Uganda which are located near Fort Portal and with the Rwenzori Mountains in the background, this is by far one of Uganda’s most peaceful and extraordinary sights.


QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Uganda’s second largest National Park, the 1,978 sq km Queen Elizabeth National Park offers varying landscapes from open savannah to rain forests and boasts one of the highest biodiversity ratings and has recently been designated a Biosphere Reserve for Humanity under UNESCO. The Park has over 100 mammal species, and an astounding 606 bird species, making it a premier safari destination.

The Kazinga Channel also attracts a tremendous variety of bird species including the African Eagle, Open-Billed Stork, and Pied Kingfishers. The famed tree climbing lions are located in the Southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, and are best seen in the early morning hours.


BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to over half of the world’s mountain gorilla population and was declared a Natural World Heritage Site in December 1994. Interacting with these gentle giants is one of the most moving experiences that Africa has to offer and should not be missed! Being the only park where chimpanzees and gorillas co-exist together, the ancient rainforest of Bwindi spans 321 sq km and boasts 90 mammal species as well as 23 Albertine Rift endemic bird species, including the African Green Broadbill, the Bar Tailed Trogon and many others.

Hiking through the thick, verdant, rainforest to eventually come across the gorillas in their natural habitat, is an amazing and unforgettable experience. Actual trek times can vary; these are wild animals after all. If time permits there are a diverse range of activities which are unique to Bwindi which you can participate in including Batwa Trail, waterfall walk along the Congolese border and Bwindi to see the magnificent waterfalls and the incredible scenery.


LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

Lake Mburo national park’s rolling hills and valleys, interspersed with thickets, woodlands and rich wetlands, are the only place in Uganda where impala still occur and also one of only two Ugandan national parks where Burchell’s zebra still exists. The park is the best location to spot large herds of Africa’s largest antelope grazing leisurely. The lakes and lush vegetation support populations of buffalos, warthogs, bushpigs and hippos so seize the opportunity to experience the largest of the 5 lakes that lie within the park boundaries on a boat trip.

Probably the best place in Uganda to see acacia-associated birds, birdwatchers will enjoy the more than 250 species of birds found in Lake Mburo and also of special interest to birders are the swamps, the place to see the 6 so-called papyrus endemics, including the striking papyrus gonolek and the highly localized papyrus yellow warbler.
